Most defence games limit themselves to whats tried and tested, mostly tower defence games that has a massive fan following as well. Well lets say Empire Island is a defend your castle, from the invaders that progress through the ages, if you played bowmaster prelude, its a little like it at least the way you attack the incoming waves of enemies.
The concept of Empire Island is fairly simple, you advance through the ages and make sure your weaponry and spells advance as well or you will be left behind with a bunch of weapons that are too outdated to take on the new age enemy weaponry. But all this takes place on an island, so you have enemies advancing on your left and right, thank god for the A and D keys that help you scroll the screen, but ouch to the repetitive attacking with the mouse!!!
To do that you need to make sure you have enough of population, by building houses that pay you tax at the end of every turn. Using that money you can upgrade your weapons, spells and unlock new stuff that helps you get through the game.
As you defeat the waves you progress from one level to another, even though you can amass a huge amount of revenue with the population, a single wave can bring down the population structures with relative ease. So its essential to keep upgrading them and manage to make enough of revenue to keep the invaders at bay.
I have found the game pretty tough and not easy to beat, the way I managed to unlock all the ages is by playing each of the ages and unlocking the next one as I never managed to save up enough to upgrade the palace and the weapons, I rate this as a tough game you also need to figure out the gravity and spread for each of the weapons.
But once that's done the game becomes easier except that it gets annoying repeating the same action again and again. Also something one should notice about the art in the game on the left side in the tutorial it looks like a tribal face and on the right side it looks like a .....
I wish you all the best trying to defend your Empire Island! If you like this you would love Civilization Wars!

Civilization Wars
There are games that you enjoy playing for a while and then there are games like Civilization Wars, that you can end up playing for days, not because its difficult because its fun, interesting and comes packed with a whole lot of features that keeps you entertained for hours.
Civilization wars, takes the concept of bug wars and phage wars where you have bases to spawn and towers to capture and defeat the enemy with upgrading certain skills, is interesting. But the in depth evolution of your race where you can choose from skills, xp, agility, spells and much more make civilization wars stand out among the others.
Not only this but the game is immense with much more appealing maps with eye candy placed all over. The game is large, including maps, zombie mode, sudden death and much more built into it. So this means yes a lot of time with some gorgeous game play. But for those of you with old computers like this out dated laptop of mine, playing civilization wars on full screen put your processor to a test.
But this is by far one of the games I have played for far longer than many lately, yes I have had around four hours of my time with this game, which is impressive and I still haven't unlocked all the levels of the map nor have I unlocked all the modes that one can play with. So basically civilization wars can take up a minimum of 10 hours of your time if you like it that is.
Have a blast taking over the other civilizations! Update - I figured it out he trick to this game is, upgrade defence, attack, speed and agility very easy then!!
